Warby Parker Mural
The Warby Parker mural transforms an ordinary facade into a commanding public statement. This commission marked the evolution of Henderson Avenue’s artistic vision, bringing original work by a leading Dallas artist directly into the commercial spaces that shape daily life in East Dallas. The iconic mural refuses to be merely decorative or in the background. Instead, it insists that when artists thrive in commercial space, communities benefit. The result is something greater than decoration: a moment of discovery embedded in the everyday.
The Artist
Kyle Steed (b. 1982, Savannah, GA) is a Dallas-based painter and muralist whose work moves fluidly between the intimate and the monumental. His visual language, rooted in meditation, loss, identity, and the spaces we move through, resists categorization. Pattern becomes meditation. Iconography becomes autobiography. What emerges is an exploration of the restless nature of the human soul and the relationship between body and landscape.
Steed’s practice draws from an unconventional background. Years in digital design, typography, coding, and military service infuse his work with structural rigor and symbolic depth. From the intimate scale of sketchbooks to the commanding presence of public murals, his work insists on a single principle: the mark of the artist’s hand matters. The perfectly imperfect.

A Shared Philosophy / Process
Steed’s collaboration with Warby Parker begins with a shared conviction: that commercial spaces can be both functional and deeply personal. As Creative Director Matt Singer explains,
“Our stores are purposefully designed to feel familiar, yet fresh. To add a touch of personalization, we often collaborate with local artists to create regional artwork specific to each location. We strive to celebrate our love of art, literature, design, and of course, our love of glasses.”
Steed’s process mirrors this commitment to authenticity. His work follows a philosophy of deliberate iteration: sketch, stumble, step, repeat.

“My process always begins on paper, and for me that’s just the most honest way to start. Working through a lot of bad ideas is what leads to the greatest ideas. I think we can fail our way forward. Making tangible work, connecting from my brain, through my hand to the paper, or on a wall, is the very essence of the work. There’s something intrinsically human about it. I want my own hand to be known in the work.”

This mural on Henderson Avenue embodies that philosophy. It is the mark of Steed’s hand, scaled to architectural presence, insisting that the spaces we move through daily deserve more than utility. They deserve art. They deserve the attention of an artist willing to fail forward in public, to let his hand be known on the walls of the neighborhood.
